GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
i.   AGE: Applicants must be between 19 and 28 years of age

ii.   HEIGHT:  Not less than 1.68 metres (5’6”) for male and 1.63 metres (5’4”) for female.

iii.   CHEST MEASUREMENT:  Expanded chest measurement which is for male only, must not be less than 83cm (34”).

iv.   PHYSICAL FITNESS:  Candidates must not have any physical deformities and will before appointment, be required to pass a medical examination of physical fitness conducted by a government Doctor.


QUALIFICATIONS:  1.   CADET ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENTS Candidates   must be graduates with degrees in Social sciences, Arts, Law, Criminology from universities and Polytechnics recognized by the Federal Government with minimum second class lower degree Certificate for University Graduates and upper credit Certificate for Polytechnic graduates.

2.   MEDICAL DOCTORS/ PILOTS/ LAWYERS/ ESTATE MANAGERS/ INFORMATION/ COMPUTER TECHNOLOGISTS - Candidates   must be graduates from universities and Polytechnics recognized by the Federal Government with minimum second class lower degree Certificate for University Graduates and upper credit Certificate for Polytechnic graduates.

3.   CADET INSPECTORS – Candidates must possess a minimum of five credits including English and Mathematics in WASC/SSCE/NECO at not more than two sittings. All results will be verified.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONSi.   MEDICAL DOCTORS: Applicants must be registered with Nigeria Medical Association and must be qualified to practice in Nigeria and must possess a minimum of MBBS. Additional qualifications and specialisation will be added advantage. Special Individual Conditions and privileges may apply.

ii.   HELICOPTER PILOTS : Applicants must be certified commercial helicopter pilots  with instrument rating on Helicopters with at least 1000 flying hours. Additional qualifications and specialisation will be added advantage. Special Individual Conditions and privileges may also apply.

iii.   LAWYERS: Applicants must be registered with Nigeria Bar Association and must be qualified to practice in Nigeria and must possess a minimum of Bachelor of laws. Additional qualifications and specialisation will be added advantage

iv.   INFORMATION/COMPUTER TECHNOLOGISTS ; Preference will given to candidates with recognized qualifications in computer Engineering and telecommunication, software development, windows, D-base, unix, linux, networking, web design, programming. Candidates must also belong to a reputable professional body.

v.   ESTATE MANAGERS : Applicants must be possess degrees/ diploma in Estate management, and must belong to a recognized professional body. Additional qualifications and specialisation will be added advantage

TRAINING:  Selected candidates, other than specialists, will be required to undergo 18 months intensive and strenuous training course at the Police Academy, Kano. Specialists will undergo 6 months course.  The course demands a very high standard of physical and mental ability.  The training and subsequent practical work will be interesting and excellent facilities for games, athletics and other forms of recreation will be available.  On successful completion of the course, candidates will be advanced to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police on probation. Any candidate who fails the end-of-course examination or whose conduct at any time during the course is considered unsatisfactory will have his appointment terminated. 

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE:  Appointments are permanent and pensionable, but the initial two years will be on probation.  Entrants will be subject to the conditions of service in the Nigeria Police Force as laid down in the Nigeria Police Regulation.

Completed application forms in quadruplicate must be accompanied with the following documents :
1.   Photocopies of Birth Certificates
2.   Photocopies of Credentials
3.   Letter of Identification, signed by the chairman/Secretary of the candidate’s Local Government Areas
4.   Four recent passport photographs

All duly completed forms should be returned to :

THE OFFICE OF THE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE OF THE CANDIDATE’S STATE OF ORIGIN OR THE FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY COMMAND HEADQUARTERS, ABUJA AS APPROPRIATE.
